1. Create-A-Story: any number of players/place pairs on top of one another (try to separate "same" pairs), in a pile, face-down, in the middle of the table/The object of this game is to come up with the best story ever!
Each player takes a turn taking two cards (a pair) from top of pile. Player makes-up a story. (Example: One day Bud was at a birthday party. Bud was given a big, blue, beautiful balloon. "Pop! Oh, no! What was that sound?" ...) After each round try to decide on the funniest, happiest or silliest story? ...and put used cards in a discard pile, as the game moves into the next round. (You might want to use a timer, to keep the stories moving.)
2. Go Fish: 2-4 players/4 cards each/remainder cards face down in middle of the table/ The object of this game is to collect the most "pairs" (2 cards with the same number).
All players look for pairs in their hands and keep them by their side. First player shows a card from their hand and asks if anyone has that "number" card. If anyone has this card, they have to give it to the player, who adds that pair of matching cards to his/her pile. If no one has the card, everyone says, "go fish", which means that the player picks another card off of the draw pile and the next player takes their turn. Continue playing until all of the cards are matched up. Player with most matching pairs wins!
3. Match Game: 2-4 players/all cards placed next to one another, face-down on table/The object of this game is to find the most matched pairs.
Each child takes a turn, turning 2 cards, face-up on table. If they match, (matching number or suit), player keeps the match and takes another turn. If they do not match, the next player takes their turn. The player with the most matches, when all the cards are gone, wins!
4. Follow Me: 2-4 players/all cards are dealt face-down between players/The object of this game is to be the first player to run out of cards.
First player chooses a card from their hand to place face-up in the middle of the playing surface. The next player chooses a card from their hand that matches the suit, or is one number higher or lower than the card that was placed on the playing surface. (Ex. If the card is a 7 of diamonds, the next player can put a 6, an 8 or any diamond on top of the 7 of diamonds.) If a player can add to the pile, they do so. If the player cannot add to the pile, he/she skips their turn. The game continues until "the winner", runs out of cards!
5. Who's Got The King: 3-4 players/all cards are dealt, face-down between players (play game with only one King)/The object of the game is to be left holding the King!
The players sort through their cards to remove all pairs, which they put aside. The player who starts, fans his cards in his/her hand so he can see them all. He offers them to the player on his left, who cannot see them, but takes one. If the card picked matches a card in the next player's hand, the pair is taken out and placed in his/her pile of matched cards. Then, that same player, fans his/her cards and offers them to the player on their left. This continues until all the cards have been put down in pairs, except for the King. The player left holding the King, wins!
